Oppo. Thinking of selling my 91 Rx7. Struggling with how much i should ask.

Its a LS1 that is pushing oil into the exhaust with a T56 trans. Motor made 375whp. Have a 4 point cage and race belts.

Should i try and sell all together or pull motor and trans for another project down the road?

I would check the RX7 forums for what rollers go for and compare that to what an LS1 FC goes for. Then consider the difference and what the po wertrain train is worth for you. Selling projects or custom cars is a PITA. Glws

I have no idea how you price a project vehicle. But my best guess would be $3-4 k for the shell and $2-3k for the engine/trans. So maybe $5k together? I’m just spit balling here so take this with a massive grain of salt

Any idea why you’re losing oil? Blowby? Have you done a leakdown test?

JMHO, but it’s probably worth more parted than together— or at least you won’t get full value out of the engine and highly-sought transmission if it’s “together”.

That’s especially true if it’s a full Aluminum block LS1... which are still (oddly) highly desirable, despite a LOT of aluminum truck blocks now out there.

I’m only like 75% kidding. I will eventually need a T56 for another project, but that’s not going to be for a while. I also have a feeling my Volvo is only worth about what the transmission is worth, not the whole thing.

Good luck with the sale though!

Yea its a real LS1. I bought these as a package cause i could not find a T56 by itself.

My engine guy is thinking its a piston ring. Heads have been off and valves replaced so pretty sure its not valve seals. I was gunna do a compression test but cant find my tester lol

Just fix it! But if you sell, I’d say as is or roller w/trans. Cool car/engine combo.

Sadly, the engine+T56 is probably worth more than the combo IN the Mazda. Weird, but I don’t think I’m too far off there.

Fix the ring and put on a set of ‘243 heads and you’ll be inundated with interest in the drivetrain.

Again, YMMV.

Yea ive been leaning towards fixing but dont know when ill have time to pull motor. Its has ported factory heads already :)
